The mound; discovered by A. Sagona in 1988; lies southwest of the city of Bayburt; north of Yukaripinarli (Yukaripinali) village; north side of Bayburt-Demirözü road. According to Sagona; the mound is medium. Considering the Eastern Anatolia and Northern Syria finds; there must be a settlement between the 5th Millennium BC Ð 4th Millennium BC. Grit-tempered; slipped; dark gray and pale brown sherds were collected. The obsidian tools are retouched arrow heads; large disc scrapers; nose scraper; and various blades. The mound was visited during the survey conducted by Çigdem and his team in 2012. Potsherds belonging to Late Chalcolithic were seen on the mound that is named Gündolak Tepe in the report [Çigdem et al. 2014:19]. |
