This site is in the boundary of Karacaören Village of Acıgöl Suburb, Nevşehir. It is on the 20th km of Nevşehir-Aksaray highway on the right side of the road. It is discovered by Y. Şenyurt during the survey carried out in 1997. Among the obsidian pieces collected over the rock bed which is a brown and black obsidian reserve some processed ones are also encountered. Based on these pieces, İlfat Rock Bed is believed to be a Pre-Neolithic open air workshop [Şenyurt 1999:456]. |
