It is situated approximately 1 km west of Altintepe District in Erzincan Province. It s name derives from a village nearby. It was found during the 2006 and 2007 surveys performed by M. Isikli et al. The mound which was located in a marshy place and meadows between Altintepe and Saztepe measures 140x220m lies in east-west direction and has a flat form. A large illicit digging on the hill contains culture deposit over 6 m of height. The sherds collected on and around the sherds showed that the settlement in the mound began during EBA and continued throughout Iron Age. Emphasis is on the large amount of sherds bearing Urartu characteristics, among the collected ware at Küpesik Höyük [Isikli 2009:257]. |
