It is situated around 50-60 m from Kizilciktepe Tower overlooking Bulgarian border, under Hamzabeyli Company Command of the Border Batallion at Hamzabeyli Village of Lalapasa District in Edirne. It was identified during the survey by E. Beksaç in 2006, and mentioned that the hand-made circular arrangement belongs to Thracian cult elements. It is the first such example identified in East Thrace, after the ones found in Bulgaria. The circular arrangement placed on the podium over the rock formation towards the southeast suggest it has very strong ties with the Early Iron Age Thrace Sun cults [Beksaç 2008:76]. |
