The mound; discovered by J. Mellaart in 1958; lies immediate north of Göztepe Village; north of Karaman Province. Sherds; belonging to the Late Chalcolithic Age of Konya Plain; were found on the surface. According to Mellaart; sherds are of white washed on a buff surface; red matte decorated black ware and coarse buff ware with smoothed surfaces [Mellaart 1963:fig.4/4-5]. The site is dated to the 8/9th phases in ASPRO. |
