Inundated by Keban Dam; the 300x250 m mound; measuring 10-15 m in height; lies southwest of the city of Tunceli; 11 km northwest of Akpazar; above a low terrace at the east bank of Munzur river. Göktepe village covers the eastern and southwestern of the site which was full of pits dug by the villagers. It was discovered during the survey; which aimed to indicate the settlements in the region of Keban Dam; in 1967. The surface finds belong to the Pre-Halaf Period- EBA. There were also Iron Age sherds. The location code of the site is N 55 / 1. It takes place in the registered archaeological sites list prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism. |
