The mound; discovered by A. Dönmez and W. Brice in 1947; is located at the northwest of Kahramanmaras; under Göksun District in the present day. The mound covers an area of approximately 12964 square-meters [Dumankaya et al. 2018: 526] A surface collection was made at the section to the eastern corner of the mound by J.M. Brown in 1962. Sherds of Sakçagözü II-III dark-faced burnished ware; Tell es Seyh painted ware; incised painted ware; flint-scraped (brushed) ware belonging to the Chalcolithic Age were found. Additionally, there are cream-coated plain simple ware with exterior-thickened rims the dates to the Early Bronze Age and the beginnings of the Middle Bronze Age. Similar pottery had been found within the region at Boyalġ, Büyükyapalak Büyük, Büyükyapalak Küçük, Büyükyapalak Gök, Çakmaktepe and Çġnarlġ Höyük. In addition, the so-called "Elazig-Malatya Painted Ware" painted with band motifs that are dated to the EBA and gray-faced Hittite Pottery were found at the site [Dumankaya et al. 2018: 526]. There were also settlements later in the EBA; IA; Roman Period and Islamic Period [Dönmez-Brice 1949:50].
