A survey was performed inside Ilisu Dam Construction Site by T. Ökse et al. in 2008. Middle Bronze Age, Hellenistic Period, Middle Age and Modern Era finds were also found. The collected sherds have similarities with handmade, coarse, baked under low temperatures, horizontally fluted decorated, rarely chiseled and perforated dacorated specimens of Upper Tigris and Upper Euphrates regions that date to 1200-900 BC. The fact that this period's sherds were found at many locations suggest that people used to live in groups during this period. Besides this, the common lifestyle in the region based on animal husbandry during Early Iron Age suggest that the centers where Early Iron Age sherds were obtained could have been used as auberges or stopovers for the season [Ökse et al. 2010:336; 340]. |
