It lies 10 km south of the Elazig-Bingöl motorway as the crow flies. The western and southern sections rest on a very abrupt rock, measuring 70x40 m in dimensions. Presently obscured by the Keban Dam's lake, the Genefik Fortress bear typical characteristics of the Urartian fortresses with its rock-cut cisterns having platforms on the western skirt, and step-like graduated foundations of the defense walls. |
