It rests on a natural elevation, 1 km east of Gölköy. It measures ca. 120x70 m in dimensions. According to the inhabitants of Gölköy, a lot of stones were removed from the area to the north of the fortress. It is believed that this ditch-like area was part of the defence system of the fortress where the northern and western sections have demolished due to erosion. Sherds dating to the Late Iron Age, Hellenistic Period and Roman Period were collected from the fortress. |
