A group of metalic Hittite vessels were found in 1990 by a dozer operator on the Delibeyoglu Ridge while laying the groundwork of a dam construction project to have been built near the Kinik Quarter of the Devrekani District, 30 km northeast of Kastamonu. Later on, salvage excavations were initiated under the direction of A. Çinaroglu. The Iron Age settlement identified on the ruins of Delibeyoglu Ridge during the campaign in 2002 by A. Çinaroglu and E. Genç has been mingled during cultivation activities as it was very near the surface ground. Thus, architectural remains have not been well preserved. This level suffered a severe fire, but yielded a lof of workshop type of small finds. Around remains of burnt trees parallel to each other were plenty of loomweights, spindle whorls, terracotta reels, bone piercers, one piece of stone seal, terracotta animal figurine, bone amulet, and anklebones with holes. Wheel-made pottery is divided into two groups as polychrome and monochrome. The monochrome vessels have color tones ranging from gray to black, including carinated bowl, single handled mug, lid, big trefoil-jug and small trefoil-jug. The 2003 campaign again conducted by A. Çinaroglu and E. Genç yielded iron spearhead, arrow heads, cutters, borers, bone tools, plenty of amulets, spindle whorls, loomweights and reels as small finds of the Iron Age. The polychrome and monochrome Iron Age pottery of the site is associated with the Phrygian culture in the Central Anatolia.
