Remains of a monastery were found approximately 1.5 km far from Çavusköy on the hills to the northeast, 7 km away from Enez on the Enez-Kesan motorway as well as several structures used for olive crushing, pressing and filtering on the rocks between Çavusköy and the monastery. The remains suggest that Enez was an olive oil production center in the ancient period, and this is confirmed (?) by Ainos stamped amphoras. |
