The Çatalkaya Fortress overlooks Cumaovasi, lying to the northwest of the Görece Village. The steep calcerous massif is 468 m high above the sea level. On the eastern slope there is a very steep stream valley. The settlement is only accessible through a ridge from the south. The fortress-settlement was arranged in terraces on an inclining ridge strecthing toward south. The Çatalkaya settlement has abundant surface material dating from the Archaic Age to the Late Ancient Age without any interruption [Tuna 1986:216].
