Intense architectural remains were found on the mound lying at where it is called Harabeler by the local people to the south of the Çakmak Village, north of the Sorgun Stream, 5 km northwest of the Merkez District in Kars. with traces of early settlements, this rectangular mound measures ca. 200x60 m in dimensions and 20 m in height. Sherds from the Early Bronze Age, Late Bronze Age, and Late Iron Age were collected from the surface. It was visited during the survey carried out by A. Bingöl and his team in 2015, and it was stated that the architectural remains in high density in this area belong to a castle. The entrance to the castle is in the west, and there are towers on both sides of the entrance. The city walls surround all around. The southern city wall set on the bedrock. The south and the north city walls measures 65-66 m long, and the east and west city walls are 23-25 m long. These walls were erected with large andesite stones. There is a necropolis area on the south skirt of the castle. The graves are rectangular and oval planned. There is a Middle Age cemetery in the southeast of the castle. Therefore, it is assumed that the necropolis was used in the antiquity [Bingöl-Karageçi 2017:267-8].
