It rests on a flat elevation at the bank of Degirmendere, 50 m south of the Cafer Quarter in the Merkez District of Malatya. With an irregular oval shape, the mound's cone is approximately 120 m long, and 50-60 m wide. Having a wide, but very eroded ground plain on the top, the cone is approximately 5 m high. The mound measures 220x100 m in dimensions with a height of 10 m together with this settlement, which is like a lower terrace. It was first found and surveyed by the Department of Prehistoria of the Istanbul University in May 1977. Pits dug for fruit trees, cultivation and partial adjustment of soil for raising crops, and removal of soil resulted in erosion of the mound from place to place. Sherds from the Iron Age were collected from the northern terrace.
