It is very close to the Turkish-Syrian border; located northeast of village of Büyüktepe; on the eastern bank of the Zergan Çayi; about 11 km southwest of Kiziltepe; south-southwest of Mardin Province. It was discovered by the Girnavaz excavation team in 1991-1992. Samples of the metallic ware dating from the Early Dynasty II-III were collected from the surface [Ay 1995:18]. Forms of glass; bowl and jugs were found [Ay 1993:VIII/57-58; IX/61; XIII/89-95; XIV/96-99; XIV/101-102; XV/106; XVI/113; XXI/147]. Samples of Ninive V ware; particularly recovered from the Girnavaz and Girharrin mounds were also recovered [Ay 1993:pl.VII/41; XII/80; XXIII/161]. Also found are samples of grooved and incised decorated ware.
