It was founded on a natural hill to the west of the Bozkale Village of the Merkez District, 15 km west of Kars. To the north being attached to a high range of mountains, it commands natural passageways. It is a strategical fortress based on its location on the skirts of high mountains, overlooking the valley and commanding the natural passageways. Although the fortifications were removed by the villagers, based on the analyses on the extant parts, it appears that the outer surfaces were roughly dressed, and the interior surfaces were left as they were. Built using the cyclopic technique, the thickness of the walls range from 2.50 to 2.70 m. Only 1-2 rows of the fortifications are extant. Both the construction technique and ceramic data indicate that it was an Iron Age fortress.
