It is 2250 m high above the sea level, 59 km northwest of the Dogubayazit District in Agri. The Lake Balik of 34 kilometer squares located near the fortress is among the lakes with the highest altitude in Turkey. The fortress is also very close to the Channel of Ferhat, and it is suggested that it was erected in order to control flow of the water and protect the channel. Only the 2 m wide eastern wall survives to the present day. Currently surviving with a single row, the wall was erected with roughly dressed stones. Besides the fortress, some architectural remains belonging to a settlement were found in the area covered by rich grasslands irrigated by the lake. With traces of an intense settlement, it is 2300-2500 m high above the sea level. Also found are kurgans, 5 to 10 m in diameter, in front of the fortress. It appears that they were enclosed with a single row of stones in order to prevent running off the soil. As a fortress, it bears characteristics of the 7th century BC. Very limited number of sherds were collected from the surface.
