It is 220 m high, approximately 7 km northwest of the Aydintepe district center in Bayburt. It stretches in the east-west direction, spreading onto a considerably wide area. It completely dominates the fertile Altintepe Plain on the southern slopes of the Soganli Mountains, commanding the upland road of Bayburt-Aydintepe-Trabzon. It has lost its feature to a great extent, and the southern section has been completely destroyed. Inside the citadel piles of stones, presumably of the architectural remains and fortifications, are observed. No certain information is available on the walls due to heavy destruction on the structures. It was founded on a rocky area, with an entrance from the north. No ceramic finds are available. Approximately 200 m to the north of the fortress is a natural underground water source. It seems that the fortress had been inhabited for a short period of time during the Urartu Period.
