It rises immediately above the Güzelhisar (Avnik) Village, 38 km south of the Pasinler District in Erzurum. It was built on a rocky area overlooking the environment. It was intensely occupied from the Iron Age to the present day. An Urartian inscription related with the fortress, and ceramics from the Iron Age and the Middle Age were found. |
