It lies 600-700 m south of the Upper Bedengöl reservoir, 101 km southeast of Van. The water of the reservoir comes from the Mengene Channel running from the north and passing to the west of the Upper Bedengöl reservoir. Due to a steep inclination, the water of Mengene Channel silted up the reservoir and the walls. The reservoir's wall encloses the western section between two hills. It is 60 m long. The wall thickness ranges from 9 to 12 m. The floodgate is out of use at present. The reservoir was built in the 7th century BC in order to meet the water requirements of the agricultural lands which couldn't have been irrigated by the Upper Bedengöl reservoir. |
