It rests on a hill 1 km south of the Çanilli Village. The fortress was founded on the summit in the southwest-northeast direction. It is consistent with the topographical nature of the land. It measures ca. 30-50 m in width and 60-70 m in lenght. The fortifications stretch in a regular route in accordance with the level differences formed by topography and rocks to the north and south. Another fortification wall is observed to the east, which is the only direction which allows access. Traces of several structures are observed in the citadel. Sherds collected from the fortress are dated to the Middle Phrygian, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Periods. |
