Asarlik or Eski Hisarlik rests on a 165 m high steep rocky hill with a triangular shape on the right side of the Araplar Strait. Various parts of the hill was excavated by H.Z. Kosay and J. Sperling in 1934. Also excavated by Schliemann and Calvert, ceramics from the Archaic Period and the fortification wall are among the interesting finds [Akarca 1978:51]. |
