It is located in the Alibey Village, 4.5 km northeast of the Hinis District in Erzurum. Constructed in accordance with the topography of the hill on which it stands, the eastern and western sections of the fortress are comprised of steep rocks. It extends in the north-south direction, measuring 300x40 m in dimensions. On the eastern section, the bedrock was truncated to form the foundation stones. On the eastern steep rocks rises a rock chamber, which is ca. 80 m high above the ground level with an entrance of 2 m. However, it is uncertain if it is a chamber of a rock grave. Data on ceramics indicate Iron Age and Middle Age. The fortress has been destroyed as its stones were removed by the local people for new constructions. |
