It is located on the Cape Tektop near the Intepe Town of Çanakkale [Sevin 2001a:251]. The city was named after Aias, one of the Achaean heros [Akarca 1978:39]. The surface finds on the cape indicate the presence of a settlement in the area from the 8th century BC until the 2nd century AD. And, F. Calvert uncovered graves from several periods ranging from the 6th century BC through the Roman Period during the excavations he conducted in the cemetery [Akarca 1978:38]. Tektop (Topbasi) Tepe was visited during the survey conducted by Aslan-Polat in 2011. Some finds which could be dated to Troia I and Chalcolithic period were collected from the surface of the hill, where EBA mound is located, the area near the slope [Aslan-Polat 2013:6].
