It lies to the southwest of the Çildir District, 2.5 km southwest of the Sazlisu Village in the Çildir District of Ardahan. With a diameter of 130 m, the mound is not accessible by road. It is 2-3 km far from the road leading to the uplands, being surrounded by fields. To the southwest lies a fresh water source called Kurunlu Bulak. The mound has been destroyed as a result of illicit diggings and agricultural activities. The hilltop is mostly covered by rocks. The wall remains consisting of 1 m thick rough stones in north-south direction and abundant number of ceramic finds on the eastern skirts yielded data about the settlement, which consequently made it clear that there used be a settlement particularly on the eastern skirts of the mound. Several sherds from the Early Bronze Age, Iron Age and Middle Age and dressed obsidians were identified. |
