It is located 2000 m high above the sea level, 2 km to the south of the Abbasgöl Village, 58 km to the southwest of Igdir. The lake covers an area of 4-5 squaremeters. It is surrounded by high mountains on three sides except the western section. The dam is supplied from the melting snow, rainfall and many spring waters running down the high mountains. Also retaining the soil coming along with the rainfall and melting snow, the lake is not so deep, and already surrounded by meadows and bushes. A new wall was erected by the State Hydraulic Works in Agri in 1966 because the wall of the dam collapsed. The dam and the canal are used for irrigation of the agricultural fields in the region. Running across the western and northwestern skirts of an andesite rock, the Abbas Lake Canal is 1-1.5 m wide. However, the sand conveyed by the channel both silted up the channel and covered the wall.
