Geography and Environment: The site lies in a wide plain surrounded by mountains. The village road passes from about 50 m west of the settlement. Pinarli stream flows to the northeast.
History:
Research and Excavation: The site was discovered by the crew led by M. Özdogan during his 1988 survey of Thrace and the Marmara Region.
Stratigraphy:
Small Finds: Chipped Stone: In the publication it has been suggested that the survey yielded small bladelets.
Remains:
Interpretation and Dating: Özdogan believes that the chipped stone tools at this site resemble those from Anzavurtepe (see Anzavurtepe; this volume) [Özdogan 1990a:450]. The site has been assigned to the Neolithic because the chipped stone finds from Anzavurtepe have Neolithic characteristics. The site; therefore; should skeptically be dated to the Epipalaeolithic-Aceramic Neolithic Period.
