It is situated on the northwestern end of the Dogubeyazit Plain, 11 km northeast of the Dogubeyazit District in Agri. The fortress and the necropolis lie at Sorik Mevkii, 400-500 m southwest of the Sagliksuyu Village as the crow flies. Like other Early Iron Age fortresses and necropoleis, the Sorik Fortress consists of a settlement and a necropolis. The fortress has an altitude of 1751 m, and it is 70-80 m high above the plain level on a pretty steep hill. The sherds collected from the fortress bear Early Iron Age characteristics. |
