It is situated on the Bingöl-Genç motorway, 8 km south of Bingöl. With a dimension of 350x200 m and a height of 20 m, it is the largest mound discovered to date in the Elazig-Bingöl region. Due to intense cultivation, only a few stone fragments remained on the hilltop. The sherds collected from the surface indicate that the site had been only inhabited during the Iron Age. Sherds are generally wheelmade, mica-, sand- or straw-tempered, mostly burnished on the surface. They are in light red, brown and reddish brown. Presence of Urartian Bianili type of polished palastware show that Saman Tepe had been occupied from the 8th-7th centuries BC.
