The remains of the fortress are 21 km far from Kirklareli in the Yoguntas Village of Merkez District of Kirklareli Province. The north side of the fortress contains a dam reservoir. The fortress overlooks the plain from the south and the west. It is situated in the north of Yoguntas Village. Kayali Dam is to the east. The north and east side overlooks Erikli Lake. They were investigated by Ö. Ertugrul who conducted a survey in the region in 1995. The Roman fortress was rebuilt and used by the Byzantines. Evliya Çelebi also refers to the fortress and a church which stood here. However, the remains of a church are not visible today. Plenty of Byzantine ceramics were uncovered inside and around the fortress. The reused material seen at different places in the district suggest that there might have been a church dating to 12 - 13 th centuries in the area [Ertugrul 1997:1-14]. The building has a polygonal plan. There are many building elements around the building. There are wall remains west of the structure. Housing development is observed east of the wall remains on the west end. The southwest of the building contains a round planned tower remains with two sidal stairways. the north side contains wall remains. Building remains are observed in the south side towards the entrance which apparently was covered with two rows of barrel vaults in north-south direction. There are remains of a small cistern adjacent to the southwest end of this vaulted building [TAYEx 24.04.2008].
