Structural Properties and formation : It was formed within the Eocene aged Kirklareli limestones overlaying the Palezoic gneisses of the Istranca Massif. Being halted its development; it elongates in the northwest-southeast directions. It has a width ranging from 2 to 5 m and a roof height from 0.5 to 5 m; and the bottom is covered by a thick fossil soil; pebbles and debris. It was developed horizontally. Due to underlying impermeable units; it was incompatible with the Quaternary rejuvenescence. No dripstone decorations were found.
Research History: It was explored and mapped by MTA.
Findings: Archaeological artefacts were found in Pestilin Cave. No bat colonies were discovered in Pestilin Cave, except two hibernating Rhinolophus hipposideros individuals. However, six invertebrate species were found, five of which are in Class Arachnida, including Harpactea babori, Phalangium opilio, and Mesoiulus kosswigi [BUMAD 2010]. There are cave flies in the entrance zone and cave butterflies in the middle and final zones [Nazik et al. 1998a:83-86].
