Explanation: Büyükkaya is located at the northern part of the city, which houses a small settlement belonging to the Chalcolithic and EBA. Later on, the Hittites constructed a monumental building here, and surrounded it by a fortification wall. From the 13th century BC, Büyükkaya was used as a big silo. The provisions of the city and the country were kept in large, four-cornered pits with stone floors. Only 11 being known, the largest of these silos had a dimension of 12 x 8 meters and a depth of at least 2 meters. They were covered with a thick layer of earth after they were filled up with grains. The 14C dates were obtained from the grain samples found in the silos.
